Two women stand out after cruising through many rounds at the 2024 Madrid Open. Aryna Sabalenka , who was fresh off a major comeback, makes it to yet another final at the Spanish capital. She will take on Iga Swiatek , known for her dominance on clay.

Sabalenka played a great match against Elena Rybakina to win the semi-finals. Belarus made a comeback in great fashion from a set and a breakdown. She had the timely counter to Rybakina’s smart tennis and pushed the game to a third-set tie-break. After which, it was simple for Sabalenka to win the tie-break.

After the match, the WTA No. 2 revealed that she was excited to play in the finals and was ready to give it her all in the final. She will face a familiar opponent, who has been in brilliant touch as well.

Definitely going to be a great battle. We’re always fighting as hard as we can. It’s always incredible matches. I’m really looking forward to this final. I’m gonna do everything I can to get this win.  said Aryna Sabalenka in her post-match interview

The WTA No.1 and No.2 will face off for the 10th time in their careers. While the Pole has a clear lead heading into the finals, Sabalenka has also been in form to pose a challenge and try to replicate the 2023 Finals.

Aryna Sabalenka halted Elena Rybakina’s 16-match win-steak on clay courts to set up a rematch against Swiatek

World No.2 Aryna Sabalenka brought her best fighting spirit against Elena Rybakina in the semi-final of the Madrid Open. Not only did she fight back to win the match, but she also denied Rybakina’s entry to the finals, breaking her 16-match win streak.

With that sensational comeback, Sabalenka roared her way through to the finals to set up a clash against Iga Swiatek. The Pole ace has been in a league of her own, dominating in all the rounds, and has only lost one set in 5 matches.

In a déjà vu moment from last year, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek once again headline the Madrid Open final. Sabalenka emerged victorious in their previous encounter, clinching her second title in the Spanish capital. Now, aiming for back-to-back wins, Sabalenka seeks to outplay the Polish sensation. Fans await eagerly as the two top women vie for supremacy on Saturday, gearing up for the French Open.
