As the summer transfer window opens in a few weeks, several names are expected to be linked to Paris Saint-Germain. The Ligue 1 side are gearing up to lose Kylian Mbappé this summer as a free agent, so they could be looking for a replacement.

Following Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League elimination against Borussia Dortmund, it marked a significant shift as Mbappé played his final Champions League match for PSG.

Numerous reports indicate a move to Real Madrid in the upcoming summer transfer window. As a result, PSG must start planning for a future without the talented Frenchman.

In the past, PSG was famous for chasing after big-name and flashy players, but they won’t be following that approach to replacing Mbappé. Last summer, the capital club adopted a new approach to its transfer policy, and it won’t be steering away from that.

L’Equipe reports that PSG’s idea is to stay true to the ongoing project: young, energetic players with a team-oriented mindset. Without Mbappé, Luis Enrique might consider a setup without a traditional center-forward, relying instead on the more efficient runs from his midfielders.

It will be interesting to see how the French giants go about replacing the 25-year-old, but this summer will mark the start of a new era.
