‘He will be looking at his options’: ‘Really good player’ tipped to leave Tottenham

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ryan Sessegnon has been linked with a move away from the club at the end of the season.

Former Spurs defender Alan Hutton believes that the 23-year-old will be looking at his options in the summer and he will look to join a club where he will get ample game time. He has not been able to hold down a regular starting spot at the North London club and he needs to move on in search of regular playing time.

“Tottenham paid a decent fee for him, but he’s just not been able to stay fit,” he told Football Insider.

“He’s a really good player and a guy who needs confidence. He’s not playing regularly and he’s been hugely unlucky with injuries.

“You never want to see that. But the club will look at him and ask whether it’s time to move on. It’s interesting as he’s still young and has a lot to give.

“Ange would like him as a player as well. But there’s a lot of quality ahead of him, so would he be able to break into that team and be a regular?

“He will be looking at his options this summer, but first and foremost, he needs to look after his body.”

Sessegnon was regarded as one of the finest young prospects in English football when he arrived from Fulham. The move has not gone according to plan and he has struggled to establish himself as a player for Tottenham.

Perhaps a fresh start would be ideal for his career right now, and it remains to be seen whether Tottenham can find a suitable destination for him. He is unlikely to get regular opportunities at the North London club next season. He’s already behind Destiny Udogie and Ben Davies in the pecking order.

The 23-year-old is capable of operating as the left back as well as a left sided winger. His versatility will be added bonus for the club he joins.

However, the defender needs to get over his injury issues in order to make the most of his ability and achieve his true potential. There is no doubt that he is good enough to play for the top clubs in the country, and he has the potential potential to establish himself as a Premier League star.
