South Bay Lakers Trade For No. 1 Pick In G League Draft
HELEN COMER/The Daily News Journal / USA TODAY NETWORK

So much for this article.

Your Los Angeles Lakers have traded swingman Teafale Lenard Jr., the 2nd overall pick in the 2023 G League draft; a 2024 first-round pick; and a 2024 second-round pick to the Dallas Mavericks' G-League affiliate Texas Legends in exchange for forward Jack White, who was selected first overall in this year's G League draft.

White is a 6'6" 26-year old wing that played his college ball at Duke University, where he was a rotational piece his junior and senior seasons.

He was a member of the Denver Nuggets' championship roster last season, prior to not being retained and instead signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder.

He was waived after final roster cuts, but following that entered the G-League draft and was selected first overall.

White also won an NBL (National Basketball League) Championship in 2021 as a member of Melbourne United. The league plays their games in his home country of Australia, who White has represented on the international stage in 2014, 2015, 2019, and 2023.

As a slightly older player, significant development is unlikely, but he's found ways to be productive at the high-major D1 and competitive international basketball levels, meaning he should probably carve out a solid role for the South Bay Lakers and Head Coach Dane Johnson.

In the event of injury, look for him to be brought up on a two-way contract.
